With separator filter types, filtration of coarse particles such as sand and silt present in the water is ensured, while an economical filtration system is obtained. With this economical structure, separator filters create a usage opportunity not only in agricultural areas such as drip irrigation systems but also in industrial enterprises. Separator filter types, which provide a high rate of filtration, separate coarse sediments that are heavier than water from the water thanks to their specially designed internal structures. The lower part of the separator filter, which performs this process with the help of centrifugal force, retains all sediments. With the separator filter type, which has a very simple structure, minimum pressure loss is created and filtration is carried out at maximum efficiency. Separator filters can be used in single or modular form to perform manual or fully automatic cleaning operations.
Separator Filter Working Principle
In the operating structure of the separator, the liquid entering the mechanism tangentially moves downward with a rotational motion. During this operation, the particles heavier than water spread outward and fall to the bottom. The moving water rises within the rotating water reflected in the bottom section and is discharged outward after separation. The solid particles collected in the lower section are discharged continuously or at regular intervals. Separator filters operate manually or automatically with a filtration sensitivity of approximately 75–80 microns. Separator filters, which can be produced from stainless steel or carbon steel, have the capability to operate continuously for 24 hours.
Separator filter types can operate in high capacity ranges and are quite practical with their automatic self-cleaning feature. During the cleaning stage of the separator filter, it is not necessary to stop the water flow. The absence of moving parts inside and the lack of need for spare parts are also advantages. Maintenance work is as simple as cleaning the chamber where solid materials are collected. Even during operation at high capacities, the pressure loss remains constant. The absence of a separate filter component inside also eliminates the risk of clogging.
Separator Filter Application Areas
Due to their structure, separator filter types are used in areas where well water is utilized. Separator filters are very successful in retaining the high amount of silt found in well water. The automatic blowdown system in the structure of the separator filter allows the filtration of a high amount of silt in the most economical way. In terms of space saving, its ability to be directly connected to the well pump provides an advantage. It is also used because of the successful results obtained in seawater filtration processes.
Separator filters, which find usage areas due to their advantages such as easy cleaning, no need to stop the water during cleaning, the ability to be used without creating pressure loss or reducing water flow rate, the ability to retain solid particles up to 70–80 microns, and their maintenance-free structure, are preferred in works such as the reuse of washing waters and the filtration of cooling waters. Especially, the preference for separator filters is for the filtration of coarse sediments present in water.
